Important Notice !

All Cables, Connectors, Components, Case, Custom made Circuit board, PSK31 software, pictorial diagrams, schematics, and setup instructions, are included with every wired and tested RASCAL or RASCAL kit you order ! There are no jumpers to joggle, no wall-wart power supplies, and when wired, it is ready to 'Plug-N-Play' with more than 50 software packages to choose from. Freeware, Shareware, and Commercial S/W that enable you to enjoy the best of your PC sound card and our hobby.
MOST IMPORTANT, The RASCAL Wired and Tested is $49.00 and the RASCAL kit is $25.00. THERE ARE NO OTHER HIDDEN CHARGES, as with other so-called, isolated sound card to transceiver interfaces. The price includes SHIPPING and HANDLING to addresses within the USA! No additional Cables to order, no OPTIONAL transformers.         Kit ($25), or Wired ($49), the RASCAL is COMPLETE, including PRIORITY Mail delivery to you.         No other manufacturer offers you this soundcard to transceiver interface value!

The 'Wired & Tested' RASCAL, contains; high quality components and design:

With the RASCAL, the PC Sound Card and RS-232 comport (used for automatic PTT), are ISOlated from the transceiver by special optical isolators, and transformers designed for this application. The LINE IN and LINE OUT cables are high quality, shielded cables with a high permeability ferrite choke molded into the cable. This ferrite choke provides an increased degree of immunity from potential ground loops and RF feedback. To further reduce the effects of processor interference, the RS-232 cable used for automatic PTT via the PSK and SSTV software, is a high quality, well shielded, 6 foot cable utilizing both foil and drain wire shielding. A level control is included to adjust the transmit audio to the transceiver.

Wanna go browse the most popular PSK31, SSTV, and Packet Sound Card Interfaces... Then CLICK HERE and go directly to the diagrams page!

For an in-depth tutorial about PSK31, CLICK HERE.

If you have a PC that is in the 100 MHz (486 or faster) class with a 16 bit Sound Card (that is ''Creative Labs" sound blaster compatible), and an HF SSB transceiver, you're ready to read PSK31. From here on, everything is simplicity in itself.

My favorite passion when talking about PSK31 is to note how it conserves our precious spectrum. PSK31 is not a frequency hog; It's very narrow bandwidth of 31 Hz... yes, hertz, not kilohertz, allow us to have a dozen or more QSOs in a one kHz (1000 Hz) band-pass. Add to all this, the fact that the narrow bandwidth of PSK31 reduces QRN and QRM.

I've worked more than 100 countries on PSK31, and I've yet to run more than 50 watts to make a DX contact.

In the past 40 plus years, I've written and authored many books and magazine columns, having done so has made my typing speed fluent at 60 to 70 words per minute. The point here is; I am hard pressed to keep up with the speed in which PSK31 handles my typing to the target station. It's not uncommon to read most stations at 30 to 50 words per minute.

PSK31 offers us plenty of fun and so far, it's been a ''rush'' for me. In my 50 plus years as a HAM, this mode is the most seductive of them all.

Download an easy to use PSK31 program such as ''WinPSK'' and connect only the sound card LINE IN, to your HF transceiver external speaker port and tune to 14.070 MHz, upper sideband, and watch the waterfall screen for vertical, scrolling, PSK31 signals. It won't be long before you're back at this page, looking up the transceiver to sound card interface diagram so you can begin operating PSK31.

Go enjoy PSK31, it's fun, and... it's FREE..!
