By using transformer isolation for the transmit and Receive audio paths, we prevent ground loop coupling, and reduce the chance of RF feedback into the PC sound card (squeals, hum, etc).  To further reduce RF feedback and RF ingress into the Tx or Rx sound card audio, we install a large (molded) ferrite core over the RASCAL to sound card audio I/O cable(s). Using this jack, enables the use of your microphone, while operating SSTV, etc...
