When operating PSK31, SSTV, RTTY, etc using your PC sound card; READ close and understand these digital operating rules.
You should always set the RASCAL and SoundCard gain (transmit) controls of your transceiver at 50% or less than half its rated power output.
Most HF transceivers are NOT rated for 100% duty cycle in key-down modes. PSK31, SSTV, & RTTY are KEY DOWN modes. I've learned this lesson long ago... the hard way. These settings may change a small amount as you move from one band to another.
When operating PSK31, SSTV, or RTTY/FSK on the HF bands:
Don't use the audio speech processor, turn it OFF.
Don't drive your transceiver into ALC action.
Don't run your transceiver at full RF output power, adjust output power to 50% or less of its rated power output.
The HF PSK31 frequencies are as follows:

40 meters - 7.070

10 meters - 28.120Operation of PSK31 is typically in USB mode, thus the actual operating frequencies will range from the lower frequency, upward by three (3) kHz. In theory, this means that you can plunk a hundred, 31 Hz, PSK31 signals into the same spectrum as one SSB signal might occupy.
RASCAL/MIC Switch for transceivers without an accessory jack. EZ switch'n between MIC and RASCAL, Just Flip the switch. It's great when operating SSTV, and modes requiring both voice and digital interaction. The 5 pin DIN at "A" plugs into the RASCAL I/O jack, the Screw-On connector at "B" connects to the radio mic jack. The 3.5mm (1/8") plug at "D" plugs into the (Ext Spkr) "Y" connector (included), and the Radio Microphone connects to the MIC jack at "C". Overall length is nine (9') feet.
