As a final note: Many times, an interface with no attenuator or 40 db pad, can cause noisy or distorted audio on-the-air. In more than 85% of the soundcard or digital mode cases, the cure for this problem is to simply add a 40db pad as shown below.

UP CLOSE AND IMPORTANT: Read this now !

	When operating PSK31, SSTV, RTTY, etc using your PC sound card; READ close and understand these digital operating rules.
	You should always set the RASCAL and SoundCard gain (transmit) controls of your transceiver at 50% or less than half its rated power output.
	Most HF transceivers are NOT rated for 100% duty cycle in key-down modes. PSK31, SSTV, & RTTY are KEY DOWN modes. I've learned this lesson long ago... the hard way. These settings may change a small amount as you move from one band to another.

When operating PSK31, SSTV, or RTTY/FSK on the HF bands:

	Don't use the audio speech processor, turn it OFF.
	Don't drive your transceiver into ALC action.
	Don't run your transceiver at full RF output power, adjust output power to 50% or less of its rated power output.

NOTICE: If your comport fails to activate PTT, your O/S may be holding the RTS line high. If this is the case with your PC comport, the following may be the "fix" for PCees with this problem (running early versions of 2000, and XP upgrades):

Make your own RASCAL GLX or TNC2 to Radio interface using this ready made cable. The 5DMX cable is 6 feet long, the 5 pin (male) DIN and 3.5mm external speaker plug are already attached and wired to the 5 pin DIN. All you add is the mating connector for the transceiver end.
